Standish Medical signs up with FDA

THE FAMILY Doctor Association (FDA), the professional body that represents family GP practices in the United Kingdom, is working in partnership with new medical media company Standish Medical Services, to provide GP practices with a variety of cost-effective marketing, media, print and digital services.
Announcing the new partnership, FDA Chairman Dr Peter Swinyard said: "We wanted to offer family practices a joined-up approach to marketing their benefits to patients and communities. Standish Medical Services ticks all the boxes in terms of skills, advice, experience, probity and value for our members."
The partnership will see FDA members recommended to talk to Standish Medical Services about all areas of print, including posters, practice leaflets and policy leaflets, digital media including website development, direct marketing including developing a brand for your practice, and advice and support on all matters relating to developing practice patient numbers.
Standish Medical Services is headed up by Chorley GP Dr Sara Shackleton, who has twenty years' experience in general practice in West Yorkshire and Lancashire, and is Practice Principal at Cunliffe Medical Centre in Chorley: "We are delighted in the new relationship with the FDA. I am only too aware myself, being an FDA member, of the need for sound advice, fast turnaround and value for money that family practices need now and in the next three years or so and beyond.
"We look forward to delivering exactly that to FDA practices."
Dr Shackleton is supported by her husband Mark Ashley, who is the Production Manager at Standish Medical. Mark has more than 30 years' experience in print and digital media, copywriting, brand development and marketing with a number of Northern media companies. He is also the business and finance manager at Cunliffe Medical Centre.
"Our job is to provide FDA members with fast response, excellent value, great ideas and consistent support across all forms of media.
"General Practitioners and their Practice Managers have an awful lot on their plates in the next couple of years - developing their practices to be fit for commissioning and making them 'patient attractive' are top priorities, and we can help hard working GPs and PMs in family practices to make the most of the excellent service they offer to the public in the UK."
The partnership will be overseen by the FDA Chief Executive Moira Auchterlonie, who said: "We are looking forward to working with Sara and the Standish Medical team to help give our members a real edge in the challenges ahead in primary care."
Standish Medical's work will be benchmarked and checked by the officers of the FDA as part of the partnership agreement to maintain the high quality of FDA services to members.
